If this application is for a Contact Energy or Mercury Energy we do not provide connections for these Retailers. You will need to approach another Orion agent for this option.
We do not install metering for connections. We will make the request to your selected Power Retailer asking them to install the meter on the date we attend. It will then be your Retailers responsibility to install the meter. If the meter is not installed at the time we attend to connect the power, we will complete all the required connection related works and leave the fuse out for your Retailers meter installer to give you power. You may need to follow up with your Retailer directly to find out when your meter is being installed. We are happy to assist where we can with metering.
The Capacity of the connection is divided into three areas.
Applications to the Power Retailer and Orion.
Before you apply for power with us you need to complete the following two steps.
Temporary Supply boxes.
We can supply builders temporary power boxes delivered to site for your electrician for a one off cost of $987.00 excl GST. If you would like us to install these boxes on site there is an additional cost of $488.00 excl GST. These boxes can be used as the metering box for your buildings connection. We require payment for this option prior to delivery.

Costs.
Our cost to you is $278.00 excl GST per Residential Connection, and $442.00 excl GST per Commercial Connection. This allows us to arrange the required instructions to connect power and complete our verification process prior to the actual connecting of power. We require full payment prior to attending the Connection. There may also be costs from your Retailer and Orion for your connection. We only allow for one visit to complete the required inspection, please note that additional visits to complete inspections will incur additional costs.
Scheduling.
You should allow four to five weeks for us to get your power connected. This is conditional on your connection being approved and the actual connecting of cables being a straight forward process. If the connection process is more complex than this additional time will most likely be required for connecting power.

- Standard Residential connections are limited to 60 amps single phase or 60 amps shared across three phases.
- Standard Commercial connections are limited to 100 amps three phase.
- Larger than the Standard Connection.
